PRACTICE

May 2023- Group Show

Bath Spa University, Locksbrook Campus, Locksbrook Road, Bath

Practice was a small exhibition taking place in the institution of Bath Spa University, group of four including myself, another sculptor, a drawer and a printer, these works were all placed into one space together. In this exhibition I explored new ways to display my works, Immobility: Destruction was placed in a pile on the floor, this allowed me to play with the different connotations of my work, the pile of metal rings resembling the pain and emotional side of my disability. Additionally, my Leaving A Trace pieces were tested on a metal shelf places at the height of my fingertips when my hands are down, this was a great addition to this work as it displays the work in a way which best shows off the marks.

The relationship between each of our works,  although very different contexts and materials behind our works, they worked well together, the wall works were placed away from each other and could differentiate between the artists, the other sculptors works were placed on plinths and so there was a clear difference between his works and my own. These display methods we all used allowed the pieces to work cohesively together, furthermore, the space was not overfilled with work which allowed people to look at each piece without distraction and gave the pieces space to be understood individually.
