IMMOBILITY SERIES

Immobility Series looks at using the dimensions of my own body to create a representation of the self. This has been done by measuring the circumference of different points of my body, such as the head, chest, hips, feet etc. These measurements have then been translated into metal rings and welded together using a 'spine' of the body which at its highest point is the height of myself.

My work focusses on the self an the inner experience of the body, for me this symbolises the sense of being encaged within my body due to my arthritis and limited mobility because of it. However,  for you, this piece may evoke a different understanding that better resonates with you. Your personal understanding of the work is something I welcome you to explore and try to further understand when experiencing it.
